To start with, rant time: our week has been shaped by one thing and one thing alone.... crappy AT&T internet. (i think it may be the worst in the United States) We pay extra to get fast connection, and it can't even play videos most of the time. :/ So working from home on projects has .... taught us a lot of patience.
That is why you didn't hear from us last week. This week however, we were busy hanging out with our friend Allison who came to visit us.
Allison was our first California house guest, and it was fun to be able to show her around (i'll add photos later). Even Adler did pretty well. Sure, she was nervous and restless for 4 days, but i think she grew a lot ;)
I'll share more of what we did, when i add photos.
Now here is what we did LAST week:
The big news all week was all about Harry Potter!
On Saturday, the 9th, we finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (in case you missed it, I was reading them aloud to Jayson). That night also we started our HP movie watching countdown. What countdown, you ask? Oh, only the countdown to the LAST ever Harry Potter movie release! We thought about going to the midnight showing, but with the gorgeous perk of LA's pre-movie seat assignment we figured the best time to see the movie was Friday the 15th at 10 am! And let me tell you, so so so good. I definitely think the 7th book (and maybe even the 6th) are ones you actually have to read to fully understand the movies. There is just so much back story; it could get confusing without it. Still AMAZING movie.
Any how we got in the spirit every night by watching a HP movie, and drinking BUTTERBEER! (<---it's a drink from the Harry Potter books)
Thanks to friends in Fort Worth, we have in our possession an amazing recipe for actual Butterbeer! Apparently, it is much like the butterbeer from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios (i have not been to test this claim, but am all for someone paying to have me go out there to see!).
Sure sure lots of other stuff happened in our lives over the last two weeks other than Harry Potter and Allison's visit. I'm working on assisting the coordination for a CD Release show at the end of the month, and I had a great job interview last week. Jayson has been keeping busy with his part time work for Emma's Children, AND we have been randomly doing catering jobs.... which have been funny.
Lots of stuff happen in L.A. and it's grand. Every day I am so thankful that God has placed us here. Though I have missed family and friends in Arkansas and Texas, I have not for one moment regretted the move. It's been fantastic. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers.

Favorite Friday: Midnight in Paris
Every once in a great while, there comes along a trailer for a movie; and I think, I HAVE to see that movie right away. That happened a few months ago with Midnight in Paris. I was pumped! I love Woody Allen, I love Paris, this movie looked like perfection.
Now a lot of times when I get this excited about a movie (and wait this forever long to see it), it lets me down. When people shout from the rooftops how great it is, my expectations get far too high. They were extra high for this movie, but it did not disappoint in any small measure! It is by far my favorite film of the year (even though I already can't remember all the movies that came out this year)!
Remember, before you go, don't let anyone ruin anything for you. I could vaguely talk a bit about the movie and it's plot, but even that would ruin it. It's brilliant, but no description can prepare you for its wonderfulness!

Hamilton Happenings: The Inaugural Post
So I've decided the best way to utilize this blog is to actually update it regularly. So from here on out every Tuesday I will be bringing you 'Hamilton Happenings,' to let you know everything we've been up to; and every Friday I will write about my favorite thing in life at the moment, everything from L.A. hot spots to good books.
To kick off the first Hamilton Happenings in style, here is a little picture show (corresponding description located below the picture) of what we've been up to:

This is how we spend all our free time these days: I read Harry Potter aloud to Jayson.
We started on book 5, and we are now on book 7.
Over the weekend, I read 21 chapters aloud in only 4 days. My voice is taking a break right now, but we only have until the 14th to finish!

National Fame
As i promised long ago, here is the story of how Jayson and I became national superstars.
On one fateful Wednesday afternoon (April 27th to be exact) Jayson and I casually walked into Fox and Hounds British Pub (NOT The Fox and the Hound for those who know of that awful place) to meet friends, Scott and Jessica, for happy hour. Immediately, we were told of our friends' experience telling the NBC Today Show crew, who were walking around the pub, how they would NOT be watching the Royal Wedding. This is when I let them know (these people that I just met two minutes before) that I would not only be watching the Royal Wedding, but that I also made a make-shift fascinator to wear. Actually, my plan was to have a party! (of course this didn't work out and I just watched the wedding wearing my pajamas and the fascinator, while Jayson politely sat sleepy-eyed beside me)
They found this news so delightful that Scott jumped out of his seat and grabbed the reporter and camera man to let them know just how much of a nerd I am (Scott did not actually call me a nerd, but i'm pretty sure all i've described previously implies it.)
I'm not an infront of a camera person; so i politely declined the attention. They left, i breathed a sigh of relief, and then three minutes later they were back asking us to toast the Royal Couple. I felt guilty because the lady was so nice: so i agreed.
We were to do the whole thing in unison; so we developed a beautiful toast and delivered in flawlessly... only to be told we had to redo it and include the word "Cheers!" at the end. Once again perfect unison!... until the end. Jayson forgot the requested line and repeated it slightly after mine.
So that was that. We figured it probably wouldn't air because they interviewed every customer in that place, and we went about our life... until 5:30 am the next day. That's when i received a phone call from my sister that went something like this:
Melissa: "YOU WERE ON THE TODAY SHOW!?!"
Me: (groggily) "I was on the Today Show?"
Melissa: "That's what you're facebook says! Someone posted it on your wall."
Me: (still just as groggy) "Oh... right... yeah, we might be on the Today Show. Thanks for reminding me.... i'll call you later."
So thank you to those that did post on my FB wall Central Standard Time. Without you we would have never seen our U.S. debut. Unfortunately, no other customer in the pub that day made it on the report, but an edited version of our wonderful toast (they cut it down to just our half a second off "Cheers!") shined on one of my favorite TV shows (i like to think Matt Lauer actually watched it... dream come true)!
So here it is folks, a crappy recording of just our part in a story of how Americans are celebrating the Royal Wedding!
